Brides, Don’t Miss This Magical First Look at the Dallas Texas Temple

A bride and groom stand in a secluded garden with tall shrubs on the left and beautiful flowers and plants on the right. The bride is reaching up to kiss the groom whose hands are pulling her in close to him. Behind them is a clear blue sky and the tell-tale grey marble of the Dallas Texas Temple.

For Latter-day Saint brides in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, the Dallas Texas Temple holds a special place in the heart. It’s more than just a beautiful building—it’s a sacred space where eternal promises begin. And for many brides, the moments just before entering the temple, sealing their promises to God and their spouse, are just as unforgettable. That’s why planning a first look at the temple can be one of the most meaningful and magical parts of your wedding day.

Why a First Look at the Temple?

While Latter-day Saint weddings are unique in that the sealing is the most important moment, many couples still treasure the chance to share a private, tender moment before entering the temple together. A first look can give you and your groom a peaceful pause amid the joyful chaos—a quiet moment filled with emotion, anticipation, and love.

For brides who want to document that experience, choosing the right spot for your first look at the Dallas Texas Temple is key.

The Most Magical Spot on the Grounds

On the North side of the temple, behind an ornate wrought-iron gate you'll find a serene, secluded garden featuring a cobble stone walking path framed by 2 towering trees and manicured hedges. This area is often quieter, with fewer visitors, and provides a gorgeous natural frame with the temple in the background.

Here’s why this location is perfect:

Soft, natural lighting in the morning and evening hours

🌿 Lush greenery and thoughtfully landscaped path

🕊️ A sense of privacy without feeling closed off

🏛️ Beautiful angles for photographers to capture both the bride and the temple

Whether you’re walking up behind your groom for the big reveal or sharing a private prayer together before your sealing, this corner of the temple grounds feels sacred and special.

Tips for Planning Your First Look at the Dallas Texas Temple

If you're planning a first look at the temple, here are a few suggestions to help the moment go smoothly:

1. Coordinate With Your Photographer

Let your photographer know in advance that you want to do a first look, and ask if they’ve shot at the Dallas Texas Temple before. An experienced LDS wedding photographer will know how to capture the moment respectfully while still honoring the sacred nature of the temple. They will also know the best locations to photograph the moment to make best use of the folliage, lighting, and architecture of the temple.

2. Choose the Right Time of Day

The lighting around the temple is best in the morning (especially in the summer). The softer lighting enhances the emotion and warmth of your photos—plus, it’s cooler and more comfortable in Texas heat.

If your Temple Sealing is scheduled for the afternoon I highly suggest you do a bridal photoshoot before your wedding day in the early evening. The sunlight in the last 2 hours before sunset is more romantic, and will be coming from behind the temple so your first look's ideal location will be in front of the temple at that time.

3. Keep It Sacred

Even though the first look is a photo opportunity, it can also be a spiritual moment. Consider reading a favorite scripture, sharing personal vows, or saying a prayer together. Many brides say this was one of the best moments of their day - when they were able to connect with each other and feel the holy spirit.

4. Bring a Bridesmaid or Family Member

Having someone close by to help with your dress, bouquet, or any final touch-ups will be of great support to you. Your friend/family member can even wait outside the gated garden so you can still have your private moment with them just out of eyesight.

Make It Yours

Every wedding day is personal, and your first look should reflect your unique love story. Whether you choose a quiet embrace, a heartfelt laugh, or a joyful tear, the grounds of the Dallas Texas Temple are the perfect place to begin your eternal journey.

So brides—don’t miss this chance. Plan your first look with intention and heart. You’ll remember it forever.
